Sunblock (Blockout) Vertical Blinds

  • This timeless, age old and reliable product still continuous to prove its versatility and durability in the window coverings market.
  • Defining windows and other openings with a clean, linear style; technologically they offer ideal shading and sight protection for all living and working areas. Your décor will be complimented by their attractive and affordable style. You yourself will take control of how much light is required for which circumstances.
  • These blinds create a comfortable and individual atmosphere. They are perfect for daylight adjustment as the vanes may be opened completely or only partially or all the slats may be moved away from the opening for a picturesque panoramic view.
  • With ranges starting from absolutely dense (opaque) fabrics through to almost transparent fabrics, you will be able to select the perfect option for your own demand on the amount of sunlight and desired shading or sight protection needed.
  • Fabrics are made up of either 100% polyester finished with an acrylic coating or a combination of polyester and acrylic. Plain knitted fabrics and up-to-date designs in woven jacquard fabrics leave you with an abundance of choices. Room-darkening fabrics consist of an acrylic coating on both sides of the vanes shutting out much light and direct harsh sunlight.
  • You can utilize either 127mm (standard width) or 90mm slat widths to your hearts’ desire.
  • Headrails are made from white powder-coated aluminium which is fitted into any opening with metal topclips. Need an ouside fit? Well, for this face fit or for an extended fit (away from wall or glass) you can request zinc plated L-shaped brackets or flat extension brackets.
  • For easy use and optimum comfort, vertical blinds are fitted with polypropylene ballast weights (at the bottom of each individual slat), polyacetal stabilizing chain for interconnecting these weights with snap-on coupling and plastic control bubble chain together with a cord weight/holder. Sun can make these components brittle and they will have to be replaced at some stage at a minimal cost – regularity will depend on the harshness of the sun.

Colour Accuracy Policy:
Although we do our best to make sure that the colours printed on our web site are accurate, actual colours will vary. In addition, subtle colour differences and textures may not be fully appreciated on some systems due to differences in monitors and/or display cards. Due to the fact that our products are all custom made, and can’t be returned, you need to be sure that you can live with any colour variations that are possible from our scanning of the actual samples. If an exact colour match is required, then please request a sample before placing your order. Once you receive your sample, keep in mind that all samples may still have minimal colour variations as stated by the manufacturers.

Always use a metal tape measure and NOT a cloth one as these are known to stretch and thus be inaccurate. All blinds are made to specified measurements, therefore we, as the manufacturer, cannot be held responsible for incorrect sizes/dimensions given by the client. Faxed or emailed orders are thus preferred and NO verbal or telephonic orders will be accepted. All the sizes should be given accurately in MILLIMETRES. Blinds measurements must be PRECISELY FROM WALL TO WALL – we shall make the necessary deductions ourselves, except if you already know the blinds’ final dimensions in which case you must clearly indicate that fact, and that no deductions should be made.

  • All measurements in mm
  • Always work on the smallest measurements
  • Measure where the blind will be installed in the opening (reveal / windowsill) – back (closer to the glass); centre (middle of windowsill / reveal) or front (closer to the edge of the windowsill)
  • Always order WIDTH x DROP (HEIGHT) and not the other way around!

REMEMBER TO ALWAYS GIVE THE WIDTH FIRST, THEN THE DROP!

VERTICAL BLINDS
For drop, measurement is always taken on shortest side of window or frame or else the blind might “drag” on the sill or floor. Check the depth of the recess (sill). It should always be at least 80mm for 127mm slats (standard width) or 60mm for 90mm slats. For recess fit we deduct 7mm off width and 5mm off drop for windows. When vertical blinds are fitted in to a large opening towards the floor (e.g. into a sliding door) please deduct 15mm off the drop to have good clearance for flooring and / or carpeting.

We work to a tolerance of 3mm. If window sills must still be tiled or floors must still be tiled/carpeted remember to make further necessary deductions. For face fit (outside) measurements add ± 150mm to both sides if possible on width, ie 300mm in total and ± 100mm above window or door frame for drop. Remember that a blind that fits on the outside of a window must hang past the window sill therefore please add on for exact width & drop as explained above. Indicate whether blinds are face fit for required components with which you will be supplied for your DIY project. Should the blind be a centre split (opening like a curtain to both left- and right hand side), please indicate C/S or C/O. If your require the blind to centre stack (all slats drawing to the centre of the track), please indicate C/St. Should the blind otherwise need to stack away from the controls (opposite side of the track than where controls are), please indicate the blind as reverse = Rev.

Should the opening of the blind be normal, this is indicated with an N. Where blinds are installed on two separate tracks but in one opening, the last and first slat of each blind can be laid over one another in order for the blinds to appear as one when closed. Then you require an overlap by indicating O/L. You need only indicate a control length, should it be a specifically required length, ie the blind might be unusually long or positioned very high up against the wall. Do not forget to indicate the fabric range, colour and code/number should there be one. You will notice that a number of the fabrics have numbers or codes next to the colour. The number of runners per track and fabric slats are worked out by us. Remember to order correct blind size!!

  • Our imported “High Opacity” fabrics have been the most recognised brands internationally.

  • Kenté and Kanga (manufactured on a heavier base cloth) indicate a 100% density property making it a total blockout fabric.

  • Ease of cleaning is an important feature when choosing blinds fabric. These ranges are easy to clean, because the sealed acrylic coating resists dust, and marks are easily removed with lukewarm water, mild detergent, and a soft sponge, except for paint which cannot be removed.

  • These ranges consist of 100% polyester (PVC-free) with an acrylic coating making them extremely strong.

  • The ranges were tested for fungus and mould and found to have antifungal properties built in, as well as are mould resistant (these were on the tests done by our supplying manufacturer) showing no visible traces of either.

  • Fire retardancy is an important safety feature that reduces risk and is specified and used extensively in schools, nursing homes, hospitals, government projects and commercial buildings. For these contractual projects these ranges come highly recommended.

  • Kenté and Kanga conform to the Australian Building code standard regarding fire rating.

  • Our anti-fade blinds fabric is produced with a high quality acrylic coating that incorporates the most light-fast pigments. This produces a stable colour and results in a higher standard of fade resistance over the life of the blinds. It does not mean, however, that it will never fade.

  • These ranges contain no PVC content so it is environmentally friendly.

  • “X-Link”, also known as ‘cross-linking’, is a technology that chemically bonds the thick acrylic coating onto the polyester basecloth. This yields a stronger more stable blind that will stay flexible in both hot and cold conditions, outlasting most other fabrics.

  • Because our supplier has one of the harshest climates on earth (similar to the South African climate) they have to build in quality features not normally available in blinds fabrics produced elsewhere. Only longer-lasting polyester base cloths are used, coated with a ‘super tough’ acrylic that will withstand the harshest of climates and operating conditions. Their ‘free extra’ is longer-lasting, better performing blinds and the best value for your money!

We believe all information received from the supplier is accurate. It is offered in good faith, but without guarantee. Since conditions of use are beyond our control, all risks of use are assumed by the user.
